Jalen Gibson has always been about getting paid. At a young age he was robbing schools and stores for money. When that got old a friend turned him on to the drug game. Failing grades meant nothing as long as he had a pocket full of money. After an accidental drug overdose he finally realizes that there needs to be a change in his life. Jalen gets himself together long enough to graduate high school and enlist in the army. Life is good. Jalen still hasn’t lost his thirst for money but he is determined not to return to the life he once lived. While in the military he has an affair with a woman willing to pay any amount of money to keep him happy. Jalen decides to make this his new hustle. He sleeps with woman after woman, each willing to pay all that she can and then some just to keep him. Jalen finally considers the pain he has caused after one of his lovers attempts to poison him. Time after time Jalen finds himself in a negative situation asking God to help him one more time. All his life he had blamed his problems on someone or something else. The change in his life only comes after he realizes that he is the problem.

The reality and the root of most success stories, which involve one overcoming, doesn’t just lie within the miracle that ensued, but rather within the choices we have made. We can choose to escape the valley experiences in our lives, if we just trust God and act on that still small voice of faith which rings ever so clear in our heart. (Rom. 12:1)” — John S. Gibbs
